Sounds like this project is going well. Hope to see some pictures soon.

I recently moved, and delayed most projects. I'm tired of unpacking, so I might start to use the boxes as a work area and make some progress to show you all. Smile

Well,

I've got my vest made, but I need to get some snaps to hold it on and hem it. Then maybe paint.

This weekend is out for much progress, so hopefully I'll get to do something next week.

Still no pics - I guess I'm getting lazy! - but some progress. I got the snaps on my vest last night and just need to hem it now. I also bought the paint I want to use for the armor. I was hoping to work on it today, but I've had to sacrifice the morning to the car gods. Of all things, my windshield wipers quit working, right in the middle of my line of sight. I've got the parts out and I think I know what's wrong, so I just need to figure out how to fix it...

Glasses??? How are you handling the vision problem Jedibrain? Don't you wear glasses?

I assume you are talking about the vision problem in the helmet of the costume...

The answer is - I don't know yet. I've seen a few folks who have sacrificed an old pair of glasses by taking the ear pieces off and affixing the lenses to the inside of the helmet. I've been toying with the idea of getting contacts for the last few years, so that would also solve the problem.

Some fan-made helmets are a bit larger and may accommodate glasses, but none of them that I've seen were large enough for both my big head and my glasses. More accurately, I couldn't get the helmet on while wearing my glasses. The cheeks are indented, and interfere with the glasses on the way in. Once past there, there seems to be enough space for me to wear them. So If I can figure out a way to get the glasses in the helmet, then get my head in and put them on, I would be okay.

For the moment, I'm on the 'where there's a will, there's a way' bandwagon for this one. I'll make it work.

Okay, so the work has continued. The vest is complete, and the armor painted. I started working on a gauntlet. The knee pieces are sculpted, and just need to be vacuum formed.

And as for the vision problem in the helmet....I've gotten contacts! I'd been considering them for a while, and just finally pulled the trigger this month. So far, so good. I like them, but I've got to get my eyes used to wearing them. It does solve the helmet problem though.

yeah, my armor is coming along pretty good too. I have been lazy in terms of taking pixs, but so far I fave the following finished:

armor is cut, painted, weathered, and dull-coated (need to make gauntlets, helmet, and cod piece, but the rest is done)

flight suit and vest are ready

boots are ready

On my side, I still have not finished unpacking, and am now spending most my time jobseeking.

the only progress so far is a brand new blaster Smile

I need to finish some cutting and rounding of the armor, put some velcro, and get a freaking helmet.

Things works a lot better with the proper tools!!

Today I was at a friend who has a small propshop, and he has a small tabletop sander that I used to trim and buff all my currently prepared armor parts... less then 1 hour of work with his help, more job done then my previous 1-month-efforts...

Pictures to come, but I'll be able to start painting.

Anyone has a spare bucket?

Check it out! Done just in time for haloween. Corin will probably post some additional pics of me, him, and his wife gunning down a particularly unlucky Jedi.

This is a very cool costume. So much work has gone into it. This is V 0.5. V1.0 will see the gauntlets put together, an upgrade/finalization of the armor attachment method I'm using (some magnets, some velcro), working electronics, a belt and holster for my sidearm (on the ground), and a sling for my rifle (also a bayonet for the rifle).

So here goes:

First of all, awsome constumes Smile Good to see that the quality of work hasn't gone down in my absence Smile To business:

I need a set of Jango Fett holsters (with belts) in leather, for a costume I'm doing for a party my wife's organizing in a few months. It's not for a Mando (or even Star Wars) costume, instead, I'm putting together a costume based the one worn by James Marsters, in his portrayal of Captain John Hart, in Torchwood. I wanted to add something 'futuristic' to the costume, and, the holsters/blasters do just that. However. The ones I have so far, are the Rubies release. Yup, cheap vinyl holsters and belts (which needed re-gluing, and stapling, to reinforce the connections) and blasters which need a considerable amount of modding/repainting to be in any way tollerable. Soo.. What I need...
A decent set of holsters. Can anyone point me in the right direction, or even make them?
Thanks in advance Smile

PM Corin Shadowblayde - Jedi. I know he's done some leather work. Maybe he can help you out. I know there are a lot of old western style holster makers out there. Some economy brands may have a look similar to what you see that you could just drop onto a belt and dress up a bit with whatever greeblies you think makes them more your period. If you have a Cabelas or bass pro, or some other king of hunting/shooting sporting goods store you could check there.

Also, there was a guy on Ebay at one point doing some star wars themed leather pieces. Might check into that too.

I'll do some thinking and let you know if anything comes to mind.

And thanks for the compliments. I'm hoping to get back into the costume and finish off the last bits over the next month or so.
